Sacrifice Your Friends is a chaotic party brawler set in the mysterious universe of HP Lovecraft with a funny and cartoonish look similar to Overcooked

Q1 2020

Considering de projects constraints, each member of the team had to rapidly specialize and adapt. I took a creative approach, preparing the very first illustrations for the game. The idea was to find a visual signature reminiscent of H.P. Lovecraft’s universe, mixed with a cartoonish look and a humoristic tone.

Rethinking the HUD

HUD was problematic during the Alpha and also the Beta phase of SYF. Playtesters and players during convention were not fully in control of the interface and were having a hard time to get the proper information quickly. SYF being a chaotic game with a lot of visual noise, we needed to rethink the HUD in order to make it more clear and efficient.

3 questions needed to be answered at this point;

              1) Which information should be displayed on screen?

              2) Where does it need to be displayed? (Prioritize GUI elements )

              3) Is a player (or spectator) able to understand rapidly the gamestate at any moment?

Less spatial UI (information over the player)

The health bar is now in the HUD

Changing UI elements position; everything is now centered, making it more easy to read for     everyone.
